What do the Williams supporters think is a fair deal?

Pavlik is an attraction with a loyal fan base who will travel to support him. As draw Williams has nothing except a lot of HBO dates which have not translated to building him a fan base. Not yet anyway.

when phony floyd says someone is not a draw, it's usually an excuse to worm out of the fight. Case in point Margarito. But Margarito was fine with taking only 10% of the purse - $1million to fraud's $8 million plus PPV upside. fraud could have doubled his money and beat Margarito in August 07 and then Baldomir in Nov. But he ducked Margarito. Ohyeah, he didn't want to risk the Oscar fight. Damn right he would have risked the Oscar fight.

floyd ain't no draw anyway, he piggybacked off Oscar and Hatton and Gatti. This will be proven when we see the #s from the Marquez fight.

Pavlik needs Williams more than Williams needs him, Williams can fight at Welter and Jr. Middle if he needs to, it's Pavlik who's stuck at Middle with no options worth bragging about and has to move up if he plans to secure other big fights.

I hope this one comes off! Williams will skool Pavlik imo. Paul is a banger, tall, a southpaw, can fight at long range or the inside, very effective!

I see Williams outboxing Pavlik quite comprehensively. I may indeed be discounting Pavlik here, but Paul seems to still be improving! Paul's peak is still to come yet!

Well If he does, good for him. Williams can establish a legacy at jr middleweight and Pavlik needs to fight somebody with a pulse at middleweight. Paul aint ready for the heavyhitters at middleweight yet.

This potential fight doesn't interest me whatsoever

I like both fighters but I think Pavlik is the slight favorite in this one.

Williams never fought a guy as strong as Pavlik or the same size as him, add the fact that his defense is not that good and by the time Pavlik lands a few of his right hands, things may start to go wrong for Williams.

I think Top Rank is playing cheap in the negotiations. Williams is Goossen's best fighter and he will only set good deals for him.

The 2.5 mill guarantee is only a fair deal and that's pretty much the hold up, as the percentages that are being offered by Top Rank will only surpass that amount if the fights turn out to be huge. Don't forget that Top Rank is forcing a rematch clause too.

With the numbers already on the table, this fight is almost sure to generate at least 7 million, meaning Top Rank-Pavlik would get 4.5 mil (65%) and Goossen-PW would get 2.5 mil (35%), how's that not a fair deal.

Top Rank is just being greedy, just like they were on the first negotiations, plus they are already safe to make another big payday with the rematch, in case they lose.

IMO, Goossen is being reasonable and only wants a fair deal. If this fight does not happen it's only Top Rank's fault.

Goosen wants 50/50 on the guarantee, and 50/50 on the gate. By defending that you are defending a position that is completely untenable. The typical champion/challenger split is 70/30 on the gaurantee, take or leave it.

    1) What you're saying here is that Pavlik should fight Paul Williams for less than he made to fight Gary freaking Lockett! That makes no sense at all.

    2) You're defending PW's right to deny a rematch clause. Rematch clauses are almost as standard in boxing as the ring itself. Furthermore, if Paul managed to pull off the upset, a rematch would be huge. It makes no sense to balk at that.

    3) You are also saying PW deserves 50% of the gate at Boardwalk Hall. 90% of the seats will have Pavlik fans sitting in them. Pavlik could sell out Boardwalk Hall fighting my mother. Paul deserves 10-15% of the gate at the most.

This fight is not going to happen because the "most feared and avoided" man in boxing heard Pavlik call his name, and pissed himself.

Good I want him to fight Mosley anyway. Kelly can go back to doing, what he's been doing "absolutely nothing".

This is by far the biggest money fight for either guy right now! So PW makes about $3 million for the fight, I guarantee by a wide margin, the most he has ever made! Top Rank has made a fair offer with everything except the gate, and rightly so- 90% Pav fans, 5% Williams fans and 5% boxing fans sure sounds like a 50/50 split????? This kid doesn't even fight on the east coast somethings wrong with this picture. Goosen/Hayman/Williams did it last time they wanted to "Fight" KP and Bob was pissed and almost swore off ever negotiating w/ them again- But KP wanted the fight so here we go again! I still think it will get done this week and KP can smack the thin man around!

I hope PW kicks PAv's ass, and it could happen. He isn't fighting a shot to shite Locket or a scared Rubio, or a non inside fighting JT. He is fighting a naturally smaller in PW who will bring it to him win or lose. PW doesn't need Pav, Pav needs PW. Go to 168 if you think you are so good Pav you hump. AA made 10 defenses before you even started to utter his name Pav you !@#$!@$ coward!!!
