I didn't see any threads discussing Ward's efforts to break his contract with Goossen, but today he lost. The main reason I wanted to make this thread though was because Dwyer was Ward's attorney for the hearing. Not a particularly surprising outcome given that impediment
I would hire Dwyer in a second. He is probably a compitant attourney. Too bad Ward could not break free of Goosen. The guy is a scumbag who got into the promotional game with dirty money and has managed to bankrupt every partner(Money-man) that has gotten into bed with him/them. He is essentially a less accomplished West Coast version of Gary Shaw.
It will be a year in September since Ward fought. Funny thing is no one gives a damn. Ward isn't doing himself any favor with the inactivity. He's no PPV star and he sure as hell ain't going to get Floyd money fighting once a year.
Interesting outcome. Goosen isn't the flashiest promoter, but he's done a good job for Ward, especially getting Ward the home field advantage through out the Super6, developing Ward into an attraction in Oakland, and landing the Dawson fight in Oakland at 168. I'm not a fan of Goosen, but he does a good job building his fighters like Paul Williams and Arreola. Hopefully Ward moves forward with Dan and gets at least one fight this year and doesn't try and sit out his prime years waiting for the contract to run out. Andre thinking if he ditches Dan and signs with Top Rank will get him a quick shot with Chavez is just dumb thinking (though it worked for Bradley, it wasn't the fairy tale ending Bradley thought it would be). Chavez is still more of a money maker fighting mid-level competition than Ward fighting top-level.
