According to Hungarian sources Dan Goossen wants to bring Karoly Balzsay (21-0, 15 KO/TKO) WBO champ to the USA against Andre Ward (19-0, 12 KO / TKO)

Should this fight happen? Will this fight happen?

    It should happen.

Will I hold my breath for it? No, but that's partly because I refuse to run the risk of smothering unless it's being caused by huge breasts on my face.

That's a really good fight actually. Balzsay (in my few viewing experiences of him) is a good fighter and Ward is also a good fighter. Both are young and relatively proven at this point. I'd be up for this fight.

Nice little fight in this awesome division. Good to hear Universum is open to let his fighters go abroad (Kotelnik: originally to fight Ortiz in the US, now Khan in the UK. Dzinziruk: originally to fight Kirkland in the US, but Kirkland now fights elsewhere to... protect is O (sorry :D), now rumors of Balzsay-Ward... I say: good. :good

Balzsay is a skilled and powerful lefty counterpuncher, no standout weapon in his arsenal or anything, but it should be an interesting tactical battle with some decent power involved. I'm not sold on either fighter, but whoever comes out as the winner, should be considered among the very best.

You know, Balzsay is the one guy that, when he won his title, I wondered whether he'd be "in play" for the upper echelon in the division, or whether he'd be content to fight borderline top 50 no-hopers. Big props to him if he takes a dangerous fight with Ward and travels for it, no less.

Only one problem...Dirrell is the number one contender for the WBO.

WBO are not exactly the most strict at enforcing mandatories. If Balszay and company are happy with Ward, then they'd probably get Ward. I'd say the biggest stumbling block to the move would be Dirrell himself, in which case maybe he's paid step aside money. If i'm wrong, then we get Balszay v Dirrell whoch will be every bit as interesting.

i believe this would be a good fight for andre

he wants a title fight by the end of the year and balzsack would be the softest touch out of the 168 lb. champs, although the guy is still a quality fighter

Assuming of course that Balzsay beats Stieglitz which is no gimme fight. This looks like a good fight. But as most of you know I'm real high on Andre Ward.

While I don't want to slight Stieglitz of course, last I saw he was succumbing to the pressure of one Librado Andrade. While most fighters are forced to succumb to the pressure of Andrade, I don't think much of Stieglitz to think of him as someone who could beat Balszay.

Then again stranger things have happened as they say.

I predicted that one of the champs will want ward by the end of 2009, I was getting really skeptical if it would be froch who clearly would be mismatched. Balzsay has balls.

But, lets get real here balzsay will be getting a big payday because Ward has turned into a showtime Marquee fighter. Any fighter who gets backing from either HBO or Show will get title fights if they keep winning.

Im not worried about Dirrell being ranked, its about who supports you and where the money is. balzsay is a good fighter and this would be a nicely skilled boxing match.
