I know it's not popular when someone puts up video for people to watch, but this is just lovely, not because it's strong on Fitzsimmons and Lewis (though there is some nice early footage of Lewis threatening a Gary Mason poster) but because it isn't - this is strong on the guys in between, the guys who fell short, British Title Champs who never made the successful leap. There's too much interesting footage to mention here of the more minor British players including some KOs I bet you haven't seen and the infamous Brian London post-fight brawl. Great stuff, some great footage there too, and some very good fighters there really, just getting to a 'legitimate' Top Spot is kudos enough. Referees Eugene Henderson & Harry Gibbs sure handled a lot of the UK & World top bills. and didn't Killie Maloney look great there at the end too. Ah, the days.
This reminds me a lot of a film I once watched called "My Gorgeous British Stepmom Scolds My Best Friend." It too was great for about 21 minutes and 55 seconds. But, after that, I just stopped caring about the plot.
That clip of Brian London fighting with barefeet and the referee wearing a raincoat made me chuckle.Always nice to hear the great Harry Carpenter
