Did he really say that he's lost 35kg for that fight? That means he must have been 25 stone at one point.

There's no way you can claim to be in optimal shape looking like a 20 year pub dweller. Are you seriously suggesting that he will feel "comfortable and fluid" being a fat slob?

He looked p**s poor mate, so not with Gorman, no. His cardio wasn’t up to scratch which I appreciate his body reflected. Some heavyweights do carry that extra timber really well though and it serves to their advantage. I’m thinking of heavyweights that are more loose in their style. You have aesthetically amazing heavyweights whom I think can be more stiff and tight, like coiled springs. When they get chinned their muscles can betray them with their gas tank. I guess it’s just striking the right balance for each fighter and I’ll hold my hands up and say I was wrong with Gorman. He needs another 2 stone off.

He's no professional athlete. Bad image for the sport of boxing.

Ricky Hatton was, too. But at least he came into the ring in shape.

But he went the distance and didn't really gas. We've seen far leaner, more muscular and impressive looking boxers blow their gaskets mid-fight. No one here is justifying his weight and weight gain in particular but he clearly is a professional athlete. I bet there are many solid athletes from other sports who would fail to do six two-minute rounds on the pads in a ring. Most posters on this forum would fail to do three two-minute rounds which is besides the point, but substantiates the wider point that Gorman is a pro boxer conditioned to fight ten rounds at Heavyweight. Whether he could do that against a superior opponent is another question.

    Stormin Gorman,
    Shades of Foreman,
    Nantwich's finest,
    Nathan Gorman,
Steps in the ring without a care,
Has few worries, has less hair,
Punches fly both fast and hard,
His torso claimed by all that lard,
    Lockdown time was never wasted,
Look at all the food he's tasted,
    Watch his uppercut, very tricky,
And that hook he learned from Ricky,
As the punishment he is dishing,
Has no thought for his conditioning,
    Looks like every nightclub doorman,
    Nantwich's finest,
    Nathan Gorman,

U have to if your making weight, if Hatton was a heavyweight he would’ve come in like a pudding not having to make weight or cutting to 140. U plum bulldog

I mean, Gorman is fatter than me, and I've been hammering the booze and bait for the last 6 months. You would at least expect him to go for a run every now and then.

But that said, some lads can pull it off and don't need to look good and that's what he did. Still not great though being a professional athlete and all that.

No he wouldn't. He trained his backside off and ate clean. He was near 10st within a couple of weeks.

Already put my hand up in terms of Gorman, but facts are you don’t have to be ripped like some Adonis to win heavyweight titles.

Exactly, he makes me look in shape and until recently I was hammering booze and eating too much.

You can say he was fine before but I disagree. I think fighters with significant excesses of fat are successful in spite of it, not because it’s ok. If they didn’t have it they’d move better/more quickly. I agree with Haye on that one. He got KTFO by a supposed rival and he looked like a slob in that fight, let’s be honest.
