experts in here. If Jones beats Calzaghe, does Tarver and Johnson get more credit for their victories over Jones. Cause Jones didn't look weight drained in that 3rd Tarver fight and he loss a decision.
He wasnt drained but he was still past his prime and his body wasnt the same as it was before. Id say this win over Calzaghe has nothing to do with Tarver or johnosn. But Ive alwasy said both Johnson & Tarver in their primes probably wouldve beat Calzaghe
it doesnt work like that and everyone knows it, we could be hear making these little chains up all night of which boxer is better then which because of a win there are many circumstances weight, age, being green, unprepared but the main point is this different styles gel differently to others so the only way to find out who realy is the best is if glen and tarver both fight joe c, then we will have something to work with, but even then i would not count it, because tarver's shot lol and glens way past it aswel
IF Roy Jones beats Calzaghe it cements his legacy and takes him to another level. The wins of Tarver and Johnson will not be worth more as Roy isn't and wont be judged on those losses, and the case that in his prime he would of beaten them both is always argued. If Jones beats Calzaghe, im pretty sure he wont look anything like the fighter that lost to Tarver and johnson... Tarver has got his credit for the victories over RJJ with his entire legacy built upon them. But losses to dawson, hopkins and sneaking by muriqi have displayed he not at RJJ's level...he is not going to break back in to superstardom because RJJ embarrases Calzaghe. so No, they dont get more credit for there victories as the version of Roy that beats Calzaghe will not be there fighter Tarver and Johnson KTFO....Tarver caught Roy off guard and Johnson finished the job while Roy was still mentally weak... btw, heart says Roy but head says Calzaghe UD 116-112ish. Roy will have his moments but just like the last Tarver fight wont have enough of them.
I think they get enough credit already for their wins over Jones. Apart from the obvious (meaning Jones was past his prime in the third Tarver fight), I believe the key in that fight was Roy's mentality. He faced a guy who proved he can hurt him, and Jones had already lost 2 times by KO, so Roy being reluctunt, cause he didn't want to get hit by Tarver, was the issue there, imo.
