got fight in 6/7 weeks and need to lose weight!!

    I am fighting in a charity white collar boxing match on April 8th. I currently weigh around 83 kilos. I need / would like to get to around 76 kilos so 1 kilo a week to lose. previously when i boxed aged 25 or so i weighed 76 kilos and want to get to that again.

    I am training in the morning first thing. this involves fairly intense conditioning, whether it be intervals or sprints or circuits followed by shadow boxing or technical sparring. this lasts around 45 mins give or take. I get up at 6 and start training at around 7 so dont have time for to eat or fuel myself before. so finish around 7 45.

    i then get to work for 8 15 when i am having home made shakes containing protein, oats, berries and yoghurt.

    for lunch i am having a large bowl of soup with ham or chicken chucked in for more protein.

    i try not to snack in the day but have the odd bit of fruit or more often on bad days chocolate or crisps.

    i then train for around an hour in the evening which is normally technical work, shadowboxing, light sparring. this finishes around 8, home for 9 when i have chicken breast with a few roasted veg.

    so how can i adjust my diet to lose more weight? apart from ditching crisps and chocolate.

    do i need pre and post shakes for each session? i was hoping to just get away with maybe a post shake after morning exercise and a pre shake before evening session.
    how many carbs do i need for the post and pre shakes as i suspect i have too many in the morning?
    also is chicken breast with cottage cheese, tomato, avocado, cucumber, spring onion a good lunch to have to lose weight?

    No pasta,make your meals smaller and have more throughout the day, don't eat anything before you go to bed

    Why are you fighting at 76kg, when you weigh 83 kg now..?

    I just personally don't like, what most boxers do mate. Would Lance Armstrong 6 weeks out from the tour de france, drain himself and make himself loose some weight..? Would Usain Bolt do the same 6 weeks out from the Olympics..?

    The answer to both of them questions is no. If you're concentrating on losing weight, a Kilogram a week. Other parts of you're performance are not going to improve, they will be hampered.

    You should just train, and then eat when you are hungry. And whatever weight you are, that's what you fight at.

    I don't know who has advised you to do this, but if it's you're trainer. I think he is a *****......

    And i can't be assed with this topic.

    THis sounds stupid to me.
    Hatton would have been fighting at MW or SMW after your logic.

    I agree with this. A couple of pounds to lose, okay, but you're a stone over.

    West, using Hatton as an example, a guy that stuffs his face with food and beer like an idiot when he doesn't have a fight coming up is just stupid and doesn't prove anything at all.

    You should fight at the weight you train.

    The thing you need discipline and that's cotroling your weight to. You don't need to fight at the weight you train but at the weight you can slim down to without killing yourself to make it. How can this be wrong when everybody is doing it? Bute normal weigh is about 185 lbs(84 kg) and he fights at 168 lbs(76.4 kg) Martinez walks at about 180 lbs(82 kg) and he fights at 160 lbs(72.7 kg) Margarito walks around at 170 lbs(77 kg) and he still makes 147 lbs(66.8 kg)

    there is no set weight i have to weigh as such as we are matched a couple weeks prior according to weight and experience.

    i last weighed 76 kilos probably around mid 2007. i have put on fat since i have moved to london, and maybe a little muscle but predominantly fat. so it isnt as though im in great shape at 83 kilos and drainin g myself. i just want to lose weight so im fighting someone smaller and more in keeping with my natural frame if that makes sense.

    if it was just white collar that would be fine but im considered fairly good and they are going to match me accordingly. so someone in shape at say 85 kilos is going to be a lot bigger than me and could be have a few fights experience.

    This about sums it up, the whole of boxing training. Stupid and stuck in the past because everybody just copies the pros of the past and won't accept modern techniques, or in this case, common sense.

    Yes, you need disipline to maintain a weight. Why not maintain the weight you fight at, or is that too difficult for a boxer? Cutting large amounts of weight gives no advantage whatsoever, I don't care who does it. If you can give one worthwhile advantage other than "Well the pros do it so I must follow without question" then do so. Don't bother if it's the "You can gain the weight back and have a weight advantage" So what? A couple of pounds doesn't really mean anything seeing as it'll just be water weight. Also, your opponent will most likely do the same thing so it nullifies this "advantage".

    this isnt aboput water weight or putting weight back on. this is purely about losing weight so im fighting someone who is more similar to my natural size. i have got a litle chubby so want advice on losing a few kilos asap. this will prob be a one off fight.
    weigh in would be an hour or two before the fight.

    i've lost about twenty pounds or 9 kilograms in four weeks. I have about ten more pounds to go.

    Because it's mostly water, why do you think professional fighters rehydrate up to 15 pounds over night?
