In fairness i had to hold back totally on everything i threw..the one time i did kind of let something go just abit, he blocked it, but ended up getting knocked across by the ring. Having said that, **** is sill demoralizing. lol

lol, im 33, i help train...its actually just a case of my not really being able to hit back. he is a national champion at 120 though. Good work really...because it makes me try to be fast..just hard for me to throw anything when i have to take all the power off my punches.

A 13 yr. old Golden Gloves Champion at 120 probably has tons more stamina than a 33 yr. old, is slicker than snot and likely moves around the ring like a hummingbird.

Add to that the fact you didn't go at him hard----and that's how it should be given the age difference, and you're in a tough spot. More like target practice for him without fear of being punished for mistakes.

Bet it's good to see young talent like that. Boxing in New Orleans has taken a back seat to other sports as there's very few gyms that train boxers now. Shame too, because N.O. has a rich boxing history.

It would probably have been less embarrassing, if that 13 y/o weren't a girl....:tong

i did end up dropping him once, let go a hook and turned with it a bit and sent him into the ropes and he went down. Its hard to totally pull punches when you have practiced turning your body weight into them.

it was just kind of embarrassing because the boxing gym is connected to fitness center and mma gym and wrestling gym, and some people where watching, I am sure thinking that i was just the biggest ***** in the world.

You dropped a 13 year old? Disgraceful !!!

There's no excuse for this, it's not hard to pull your punches at all. If you can't you shouldn't be sparring with a 13 year old.

Exactly. But he didn't want people in the gym who don't know him or care about him to think he's a *****.

Now don't judge too much. If that 13 y/o were big for his age and were trying to take his head off, it's quite possible a grown man could get careless and drop the kid.
I'm thinking a 13 y/o MIke Tyson probably would have given me a lesson in humility.

Although, I am the smallest person in my team of competitors (140 lbs) and in my 30s, I also get picked automatically to spar with a kid, or a girl. Obviously I work my defence and hold back on the punches, but I can relate to the awkwardness of being that guy. Sometimes, the only options are A: let them tee off on you and look bad, or B: hit them back with hard shots and look like a dick.
