He had his losses but he made up for them in his accomplishments . * 23 title defences * schooled Povetkin * 2nd longest reign next to Joe Louis * Fought both Fury and Joshua * best jab at heavyweight in my opinion I use to under rate him back then. The guy is phenomenal and a true Champion he just wanted to prove he was the best ,even in his later years he gave it his all . We need more fighters like this in this generation. One thing i want to add . He never ducked no one and Klitschko was consistent . These boys today do not have Klitschko work ethic and Dedication.
I have him at six or seven at heavyweight. Very underrated resume, and that Povetkin win has started to look better with every outting. Very underrated résumé. Wins over Byrd, Peter, Haye, Chaggy, Iggy, Chambers, Pulev and obviously Povetkin are good scalps no matter what you think of the era. Having 20 defences or so against ranked fighter basically guarantees you a good résumé TBF. I always have thought he'd have beaten Vitali. Prime for prime I'd pick him with no hesitation over Joshua. Can't see the best jab, though. That's Holmes, Ali or Liston. Well, for me there's no 'or' about it, it's Holmes. But anyway, I don't think Wlad even had the best jab of an Emmanuel Steward trained heavyweight.
Holmes or Liston,Ali’s jab is overrated, up against jabbers it’s tit for tat, Cooper, foster, Norton there’s more that could jab with Ali. Wlads was a proper weapon
Not a good look to have "schooled povetkin" as one of the highest points of his entire career. Has povetkins stock gone up that much for a one punch knockout of the not that good dillion Whyte?
Whyte was rated top 5 heavyweight . he had beaten parker another former champ . these are top contenders of this era . Povetkin who is from Klitschkos era just flattened a top 5 heavyweight . it shows that Klitschkos era is not as weak as some may think
Povetkins resume is really as good as it possibly can be Beating him is a big achievement Esp at the Vlad did so
My point is if whyte was rated top 5 heavyweight today and Povetkin beat him it sky rockets Klitschkos win over Povetkin and also can be used as a measuring stick in showing the strength of Klitschkos era . which is not as weak as some may think.
Great fighter no doubt who will be in the hof soon. I didn't appreciate wlad in fact I rooted against him in most of his fights. With that said I respected him in his fight with AJ he went out like an old warrior he went out like a champ.
