You always hope that a fight/a card lives up to it's billing and I certainly thought last night's did. It was good to see Garcia and Jacobs fighting. A long way to go for both but still two talented kids. I thought Chris John v Rocky Juarez was a quality, quality fight and I had CJ by 7-5 over Rocky. A rematch would make another good co-headliner and I think John will beat him if sticks to his gameplan over 12 rounds. But it was good to see Juarez get into the fight and drag CJ into his kinda fight. As for JMM v Diaz I thought someone gave them a copy of Hagler v Hearns just before hand because the opening rounds were just scintillating. Maybe not as intense and hate-filled but certainly up there. I thought JMM would counter JD at will but fair play to the kid he threw the kitchen sink at his opponent but JMM grew stronger as the fight went on. JMM's use of the uppercut on the inside and his body work was beautiful. Just a great, great fight and I though a really high quality card all round. Again boxing proves it's very much alive and it's good to see big cards like that going to places other than Vegas. I think that's a way forward. I've always been a JMM fan and I thought he won the second fight against Pacquaio so why not a third. Hopefully, all going well, he'll fight two more times this year - really can't wait for those. The Baby Bull will come again and it was good to see he was okay after that peach of an uppercut. He's only 25 and he's still got the world at his feet. As JMM has proved with his record of four losses if you're good enough you can still be a great.
I agree this HBO card (gift draw aside) more then made up for that failure of a card we had last time around....and yeah boxing is looking great right now, so many potentail great fights out there, hopefully other fighters will fall in line with Mosley and Marquez and start looking for the best fighters they can get and not taking the past of least resistance
great fight and John beat that ass. Boxing is great but these Refs are gonna **** up the game for real.
Great HBO card. I'm really lookin forward to next weekend's tripleheader though. I think all three fights could be competitive.
