Grachev beat Bute but was robbed!

I had it 115-113 Bute...that last round saved him...and he knows it...the fight was super close...he started flurrying because he was desperate not confident.

115-113 is bang on for me.
The thing that annoys me is that he could have started to fight the way he did in the last at any point from the sixth onwards.He fought scared and ripped off all those loyal fans who turned up and poured more of their money into his pocket.
I'm all for confidence building but that was a guy who was scared of getting hit,and he has no place at boxing's top table.
That fight was there for the taking,and he held back.

 

Bute by one maybe 2 rounds. No way he won by 118-110.

Grachev came to win, not just to pick up a paycheck. Props to him.

And when the chips were down, when his corner told him "the next
3 minutes are the most important of your career" Bute went out and
schooled Grachev.

Grachev was ineffective, but Bute was worse. VERY few of his punches actually landed, because he threw from too far away. He was clearly afraid to engage, even though his opponent had less power than Pauli M.

With the exception of round 12, the punches that Bute DID actually land were mostly blocked. Grachev has no offense, but his defense is actually quite good.

The very few punches that Bute landed cleanly had no pop to them. He didn't hurt Grachev even once, not even in the 12th round. Yet, many times Grachev had Bute hurt and holding on for dear life.

then there's ring generalship: The entire fight, Grachev was the one moving Bute backwards, and dictating the pace.

I gave Grachev rounds 1-9. Two of those could have been a draw, (maybe) but there is no way Bute out-pointed Grachev in any of them.

I gave Bute rounds 10-12, but he won 10 & 11 simply because Grachev, knowing he had no chance of winning a decision, had to change tactics and try for a KO.

Regardless of who deserved the win, if this is all Bute has to offer, his career is over.
