Grade my analysis on Roy Jones Jr and his decline.

I'm still trying to figure out what are these fundamental skills that Jones didn't have.

He can jab. Used it often against Pazienza, Hopkins and Ruiz and used it well.

So what is this skill he doesn't have?

Let me tell you something about Roy, and I've been a fan since I was 14, in 1994.

If Roy was a BILLIONAIRE, he'd still be fighting now at 44, and rapping in Russia.

Mentally, he feels 25.

He loves the limelight. He loves to fight.

He wouldn't be fishing in Pensacola, taking it easy, even if he had Bill Gates's money.

While ever he's in shape, and he feels good mentally, he's going to continue.

As long as he's got no injuries and he feels good in the gym sparring, then he's good to go.

 

to continue racking up those KO losses do not bode well for his health. All the money in the world and you are too ****ed up to enjoy, than you made a big mistake.

People saying he had no fundamentals and relied only on physical attributes is a huge myth.

Rated decent...Roy had skills and he moved like a GOD. He could snap your head and body with 3 before you knew what that blur was or way you were now bleeding....:smoke

 

Where is the "completly bull****" option?

 

Roy certainly had some amazing offensive skills. Most of what he had defensively however was just innate timing and distance control.

Watch Roy against the ropes and tell me he has atg defense. That lack of advanced defense was always his Achilles heal. This is ultimately what led to his downfall imo.

Mayweather by comparison is not better offensively from a technical standpoint, but defensively he is a genius. That is why he has better longevity thus far.

To say Roy was just a speed demon ignores the diversity of his offensive repertoire and how long he himself went undeafeated against at least as talented opposition overall as Mayweather.
