Hatton B- Come back against Lazcano. Laboured performance against not a natural LWW but a clear win. Sparkling performance against Malignaggi to show he's still got a lot left in the tank. Opponents werent brilliant but Malignaggi was the best option at the time. He could be on for an A in 2009 if all goes well!
Roy Jones Jr D, should retire. :-( David Haye - A-, destroyed Enzo in two, knocked out Barrett, knocking him down 5 times in the process. A good year.
Mikkel C On the positive side he performed impressively and looks back to his best after inactivity and picked up his old belt, yet somewhat undermined by uninspiring competition. The phrase treading water comes to mind.
Hopkins B+ George Bush A+ (the way he ducked that shoe, serious head movement.. good skills right there)
Cunningham D+??? I thought he fought a very close fight with Adamek. It was a 2 pt fight at worst. He beat Huck by TKO and also beat Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. Cunningham gets a B in my book.
David Haye - B. Destroys Maccarinelli, in doing so cleans up the CW division. And beats Barrett impressively. Sets up a fight with Vitali. And gets a shitload more publicity along the way, as well as injecting a little rivalry and excitement to the HW's.
Well nobody seems to have done Hopkins in detail. Turning 43 as the year began in January he lined up some slapper from Wales lol. Hopkins v Calzaghe: Loses close decision, very debatable and the veteran fighter loses no respect as he goes twelve close rounds with probably the fighter with the most stamina in the world. Hopkins v Pavlik: Schools the current middleweight champion for twelve lopsided rounds. Proves that the fight game is at least 60% mental and that age is nothing but a number. Overall Record: 1-1 Overall Grade: B+
Cristian Mijares The year couldn't have started off better for Mijares, with him beating Munoz to unify at Super Flyweight. The scorecards suggested it was a close fight, but I had it for Mijares by at least 4 rounds. Not a particuarly hard fight to score to be honest with you. Great start. His won over Saskul was academic, he was an old wartorn champion and naturally smaller. Easy expected win. All went down hill from there, with Mijares taking an unexpected beating against Darchinyan in a fight Mijares never seemed to get into. Got hit by an uppercut early and never really recovered, but he hung on only to be stopped late in the fight. Upset. I expect him to make a comeback in 2009. :good
I was watching that fight the other night against the mexican dude,he has a crab like style where he creeps towards you swinging his pincers and throws a big 'un...crazy style
