By the way on a serious note Mendoza, who are the bad losses on the list. i can see only Kid Kenneth and Tom McMahon who might fit this description but both of these had some decent wins over top 10 type fighters.

Well, we learn as time passes. At least I do. I never really though much of Kaufmann, and looking at his career you can see why. I do think Johnson won easily here.

Other things I learned is Ross, who won just 1 of his last 8 before getting a title shot ( this has to be a dubious record ) actually hurt Johnson with the only meaningful punch he landed! Did you know that?

"In the fourth round, Ross landed his only telling blow of the fight, a vicious right hand that shook Johnson. Johnson battered Ross over the last two rounds. "

According to the Pittsburgh Press the referee was Buck Cornelius.

Now could you imagine if such an act happened to any modern heavyweight champion? A guy who won 1 of his last 8 rocks the champion? The internet chin police would be out in full force.

Are you saying Johnson was okay with a fixed fight? Then I ask which other fights was he in that was fixed? And they say Primo was bad in this department. If you believe that, we have a double standard on display.

The guy was stiff with a glass jaw. He could only punch well in his time.

O'Brien was passed it for the re-matches with Kaufman. Other lesser fighters stopped Kaufman. He wasn't very good.

I have seen you say but he was only 23 for that match before. Well, so was Kaufman for Johnson.

I dont study Johnson. The fight just looks phony to me.
I don't waste my time with Carnera. What I've read in passing said alot of his bouts were predetermined.

I'd say agreeing to carry an opponent because you are superior to him is rather different to bribing him to lay down, because there is a danger he might be too good for you !
Robinson carried several fighters.I think it is generally accepted that Johnson could have terminated events against Ross ,Ferguson, and Ketchel earlier had he chosen to do so.

What a strange beastie you are?lol
