There is an almost fool proof way for Grady Brewer to go after a title shot and win. That would be one hell of a way for my favorite journeyman to cap off a career he should be proud of. Back when we saw the Lara/Brewer fight the injury prone Brewer looked like Father Time had finally caught up to him. He looked old, tired, and somewhat disinterested. However, last nights performance against Guerrero made it clear that the 2005 Contender Season II winner still has gas in the tank, and can still get the motor firing on all cylinders! I know you are all aware that Cornelius "K-9" Bundrage knocked out Corey Spinks last August to capture the IBF title at 154, but are you also aware that just a couple fights before that K-9 dropped a decision to Brewer? Now Bundrage is scheduled to put his IBF title on the line when he faces Sechew Powell on June 25th. When Grady Brewer faced Powell he lost a split decision in a fight some people felt Grady won. Brewer is a better and smarter fighter now then he was when he fought Powell, and can probably beat him. So, Grady should push just as hard as he can for a shot at the Bundrage/Powell winner. I'd favor Brewer to beat either fighter. And the NEW IBF junior middleweight champion of the world; Grady "Bad Boy" Brewer. After that, retire from inside the ring, and become a full time trainer!
Oh boy!, you and Brewer again,i knew when he beat Guerrero last night that u r gonna come with some threads, didnt expect that's gonna go as far as a world title. But as long as u r happy....!
I don't know about that. Had Guerrero happened to pick up a belt before their fight, it would have been a nice bookend to Brewer's story to take it from him. I honestly don't see him bottling any more lightning against Alvarez, Trout, or especially Cotto. Maybe Powell after he lifts the IBF from Bundrage, but a big maybe.
That's what I'm saying. His best shot would be the Bundrage/Powell winner. I think Grady would stop K-9 in a rematch, and I think his chances against Powell would be very, very good.
