Evander Holyfield is not punch drunk, i don't know why people insist on endorsing this complete and utter myth, created by the boxing media. Evander Holyfield is in superb health and physical condition for his age. You seen James Toney..? He's punch drunk.
I remember the post-fight interview in the dressing room was truly awful, Earl could hardly get a word out.
You think he's not that bad? now I havn't seen an interview in a while but from what I remember he is a slurring rambling mess, I hate to use such words but he was really that bad. And you're right, I remember one guy before the Khan fight saying "Earl looked out of it before the fight even started!" this man does not belong in a ring, if he can barely talk, how is he going to defend himself against any decent pro?
When he and Katsidis had that friendly re-union, you could see Katsidis could not understand a word he was saying, he actually looked sad to see Earl in such a state
I don't need the media to tell me Holyfield is punch drunk, it's something I can decide for myself. Thinking about it though, I will admit he is not as bad as Earl. Holyfield tends to take his time talking, whereas Earl blatantly slurs his words. Toney probably sounds worse due to the fact that most of what he says is just garbage anyway.
I've got to be honest in the last few clips Ive seen of Earl he hasn't sounded that bad to me, I don't want to see him back because hes not going to be any better than before and he found his level so there's no point. I do however think hatton looks extremely gaunt and doesn't seem to be able to talk properly and his eyes don't look right to me, I fear for his come back. Also reading the thread about Danny Williams saddens me, he's taken some huge shots and is now getting beaten up by journeymen for a pittance, just pack it in! He can't even be earning much for those fights?
So you don't need the media, to make your own decisions on whether Evander Holyfield is punch drunk..? I have got no problem with that. But the problem is..? Evander Holyfield is not punch drunk, so you need to sort this misconception you have got in your head out mate! you have clearly been influenced by the media even though you are denying it. You stated on this thread that Evander Holyfield was punch drunk worse than Graham Earl, and then with my invention and influence you realised that you was totally wrong. Evander Holyfield does have a relaxed verbal style, but he has always been his way......... This is a recent interview with Evander Holyfield, and for a 49 year old man. He looks in great condition, and i would not exalty call him punch drunk. He has been invited to many business conferences and speaks at them all, if he was punch drunk he would not be invited. He was working in a Bank, Training fighters and had or still has a promitional outfit so he's been doing alright for himself. Sorry but he shouldn't be back in the ring. He's a danger to himself, he's punchy and his signs of punch resistance wane more and more..
PK, Evander is obviously intelligent, but the many punches he has taken have had an effect on his speech. One thing I have noticed about punch drunk fighters is that they can sound bad on some occasions and not so bad on others. I've seen this with both Holyfield and Earl. What I will say is that Holyfield talks like how I would expect a boxer to after his sort of career, but with Earl the degradation seems to have happened over a very short period, like just under 5 rounds of boxing.
The beating he took from Katsidis was ridiculous. And you think Earl fired his trainer for saving his life!
Ironically, the worst thing Earl did in that fight was knock Katsidis down. It just gave Earl more time to take more punches.
