Hatton looks better under Floyd, Sr. and his skill level is often underrated.

That said, I think Pac is going to kick the snot out of him. Hatton's only chance is to make the fight Tszyu II, and I don't think he'll be able to do that. Manny is too fast and can hit with power as well, likely even at 140.

:rofl Please, watch any of the five or six fights pre-Tszyu. He has teemendous head movement. The lack of that is what started getting his arse kicked.

as for the power... well, maybe the castillo and Maussa punches count for less in retrospect, but they appeared stunning at the time. he hurt Urango, who strikes me as having a quality chin. He nearly got collazo out in a round (ok, an exaggeration, but collazo was hurt beyond the flash kd), he hurt good chinned malignaggi, and nearly kd-ed (no PBF fan should argue that i'm claiming a 10-8 or owt like that) PBF with a jab. Rnd six, he sent tszyu flying acros the ring. Hatton has world class power, absolutely no doubt imo.

In fact, i have no idea why i'm arguing the power point.

he's clearly a great puncher. completely mad to argue otherwise.

 

His boxing skills were good but there was no way he could just outbox the more elite guys IMO. He has good distancing, timing and defense but at the top 10 level, he needed to combine that mauling style with it.

Power is above average but he's more of an attrition fighter than a Tyson-type puncher. He's like a less powerful RJ when RJ was a LH. He can KO people when they don't see it coming.

 

I think to some point,ricky Hatton is underrated...he has fought the toughest opponents,and won!
I do belive pacman will have a lot of problems with hatton.Ricky dosen´t need to chase him,he will come forward.And every time Hatton hit his body,it will hurt him.And Hatton has quick feet himself,so i don´t think Pacman can outspeed him.
I think it´s a great matchup stylewise.

Boxing Monthly went to BG for an interview, BG agreed.

BG adores Ricky, thinks the World of him, sees him like his own and was like a father in return and like any father, he is as proud as a person can be about Ricky. Maybe seeing more in Ricky than is actually there but that is actually really sweet and a bit sad.
