I’ve accepted my position to fight for the EU title, and now, it’s time for Granat to do the same,” said Wallin. “This would be a massive fight for Swedish boxing. I think we owe it to the fans to see who the best heavyweight in Sweden is.

“This is a fight I’ve wanted for a long time. Granat has always been talking bad about me and has said that this is an easy fight for him. Now, let’s see if he’s the man he says he is, and if he can back up his words. I’m ready to help him find out.

“Bigger than Armand Krajnc and Paolo Roberto. There is something special about heavyweight boxing, something that can capture the imagination of the public like no other weight division. Here, we have two young, hungry heavyweights vying for the number one spot. This is a fight fan want to see. Otto has already accepted, so now, it’s up to Adrian.”

Wallin wants to face Granat just after he has suffered a knockout defeat......

We already know that Granat has no defence and shaky chin but Wallin is pretty much unknown quantity.

Wallin had a decent but short amateur career and failed to raise his game when needed. Has won few minor tournaments but never had success in European, World Championships or Olympics. In amateurs Wallin was knocked out by Mihai Nistor in the second round in the Eurozone Olympic qualifier, has 2 wide points loses to Joshua, has lost to some heavyweight from Finland called Kaspar Vaha on three separate occasions by wide margins. His standout wins in the amateurs are Turner and Fraser Clarke.

Wallin's amateur record was 46 fights with 34 wins.

    Prediction:

    Wallin by a mid-round stoppage.

Even though Granat lost, i'm still pretty interested in this fight.

Only one, fight with Modo Salah, he suffered wide defeat. But Wallin has lost to Salah at least 2 times and by wide margins. Salah has wide wins over Helenius as well. Salah was good amateur before going to jail. Granat had an even shorter career than Wallin but had more success but still only a regional success.

Granat was KOed by Modo Sallah in round 1 at Swedish nationals 2011. At the same tourney Wallin lost to Sallah in the finals by points 11-7, hardly a wide margin IMO.

I've also seen footage of Wallin vs Joshua the first time they fought and again, the margin was far from wide even though all 3 judges had it for Joshua. Remember that the first time they fought was on British soil.

IMO, Wallin still haven't reached his potential and haven't shown us what he's capable of doing. I think he needs the right opponent to do so and Granat might be the challenge he needs at this point.

Modo is such a waste unfortunately, he could of been something special but have too much bad influence around him...

Couldn't agree more. Really impressive at times when he was on top of his game.

Thanks for the correction but Wallin isn't a world beater like you say he is. He had a short amateur career, never had any success in European champs, World champs or Olympics, so I don't see how he can this world beater like you say he is. His promoter said, that Wallin is a long-term project and will the big number of fights before stepping up. Wallin isn't the worst prospect but he will never win a belt.

I'v never claimed that he is a world beater. On the contrary, I recognize that he has plenty left to prove. But his amatuer career was better than Granat's who was stopped at least 3 times as an amateur.

    It's on:

Granat: "I welcome this fight. It is a fight we have wanted for a long time and it is really good for Swedish boxing that fight can take place. However, right now I am focusing on my next bout on December 22 in Hamburg. In order to fight Wallin, I must first win on December 22. Failure is not an option."

If Granat wins the bout on December 22 in Hamburg, a press conference will be summoned as soon as possible.
