    The history of boxing has quite a few great amateur fighters who could have done great in the pros, but never went pro for one reason or another.

    The most obvious would be Teofilo Stevenson and Felix Savon.

    You mention Felix Savon for his obvious technical skills, but he probably wouldn't have had the chin to compete at the highest level professionally.
    Certainly at the time of his physical peak, with some serious dope feuled hardhitters around.
