Great and not-so-great "classic" fights from the past

    Ali was in six. Basilio was in five, I believe. Joe Louis was also in five.

    What jumped out at me is that two of the Zale-Graziano fights were in the top five, and were the top two non-heavyweight fights. But there seems to be a consensus building that these two should never have fought, despite the great gates and great fights.

    I wouldn't say they should never have fought,just that in an ideal world Zale would have defended against challengers more worthy first.I personally don't blame Zale for his choice,he was past his best ,and the War had seriously impacted on both his prime and his pocket.Fighters don't go through the pain and deprivations they do just for glory alone ,you can't eat fame. If Zale had been prime ,there would have been no need for a second or third fight imo.
