Final curtain for the Kimbo show:

Remember he was only 3-0 against fighters with losing records (and one fight should NOT have been stopped) and a boxer the press made him out to be the Babe Ruth of MMA here is a little from the article:

"The legend of Kimbo Slice was built by beating bums in boat yards and back alleys...Kimbo was KTFO by a guy he absolutely towered over yet was willing to bang with him anyway. Not that Kimbo did any banging. Slice charged him (“He was like a truck,” Petruzelli said) but he never actually landed a punch.

In the end, Kimbo’s hand speed, defense and chin proved incapable against even an average mixed martial artist. Which was pretty much what every hardcore fan had predicted."

Gotta loved it beaten by a not-so-flush jab! Just shows you how the media hypes up "stars" these days.

Entertaining read, and I think it's interested they wanted to put Frank Shamrock in the cage instead.

"in the scramble to find a suitable replacement that Slice couldn’t possibly lose to, EliteXC considered Shamrock’s brother, Frank, who was there to be CBS’s color commentator, hadn’t fought lately due to a broken arm and would have given up around 45 pounds."

Are you shitting me? That's like having Max Kellerman step in for Arthur Abraham! Can any of you actually take this "sport" seriously? Or the way it is being managed? The US Congress couldn't do any worse, and that's saying something.

It's not like every fight is done in that way. The Kimbo act was nothing more than a circus freak show.

Its too bad that nobody in the media was saying this until he lost. If this guy wrote an article prior to this I'd respect it more, leads me to think HE was one of the "press" that help make Kimbo the freakshow he is.

I don't think the whole sport should be criticized because of the actions of one organization within MMA. After all, look who runs EliteXC. Isn't it Gary Shaw?

youz guys are ****in incredible. kimbo never asked for the hype he got, that ***** just wanted to fight. he's a rookie, plain and simple, he took a loss(a bull**** loss at that) and should not even consider quitting. Stick to it and step up his game like a REAL fighter would do (unlike that *** ken shamrock)
