Looking at Hopkins still active in his old age I was looking at examples from other good boxers who attempted to continue fighting even though they are shot. I wonder why most aren't able to compete at this level at an advanced age like Mayweather and Hopkins and instead end up on a quick decline literally once in their early to mid 30's.

Examples I've seen so far, can others name some other boxing matches that show a decline?

    Leonard - Camacho
    Holmes - Ali

    Leonard Vs. Duran III

It has to do with lifestyle...
B-Hop is a very disciplined man outside of the ring who from what we know don't have any bad habits.

Just about all great boxers fight way past their prime, it's almost an occupational requirement . Hopkins is beating limited fighters, that's why he is able to continue. As for Mayweather, he is simply the best fighter out there from 147-154, even at his "advanced age".

It's better to try to come up with great fighters who did NOT fight way past their prime.

The list for those who fought on way too long goes on and on and on and on.

u cant say leonard cause I believe it was like a 8-10 year lay off I think and he didn't say in the game for money cause he was broke.

    holyfield, Tyson, ali,

RJJ should of fought at HW maybe 1-3 fights vs small HWs abd cashed the **** out.

I guess a better question would be are there many ATG boxers who decided to hang up the gloves around the right time before facing many embarrassing losses like Roy Jones. Maybe like Rocky Marciano?

Every truely great fighter in history fought past his prime due to their inherent battle with the mind of 'just one last time'.

Fighters who get out at their peak are few and far between.

    Hagler comes to mind.

So the question should be: "Great fighters who found success beyond their prime" ?

Duran, Robinson and Hearns all fought well beyond their primes and got some good wins in.
