Star power isi considered popularity, or that you carry a large fan base that is willing to support you when you fight ( Ticket sales, PPV sales, etc) De La Hoya Tyson Holyfield Trinidad ( New York) Ricky Hatton Pac Joe C etc
Actually, Joe Calzaghe was not considered a star at all even in the UK, til he beat Lacy. And even then...Hatton was far a bigger star in the UK. Calzaghe has almost always been a star in Wales though.
Agreed, but you said it " until he beat Lacy", well he beat Big L years ago now and he had star power since then, he brought 5,000 fans across the pond to see him beat B-hop, and no American figher can take 5k fans to London to watch him fight:deal, I'm American BTW
Shane Mosley! The man always puts on great performances...usually ending in a spectacular KO and the man just can't put asses in the stands :-(
i think to fill the seats they need more than one big fight happening. for example if hatton v pac, haye v klitscko and taylor v froch were all at the same event on the same nigth ppv would be huge and any arena would be sold out. but they are too greedy and would rather split it up as it is worth more seperate to them. eg all together 70000 fans in cardiff or other big arena.or separate 25000 each fight =75000 total selling more tickets overall. just greed and not looking after fans.
