Last weekend rewarded boxing fans with two (2) exciting and world class competitive fights, two (2) final rematches, and one B-level WWE/UFC like side show attraction. The championship bouts between Robert Easter Jr. Vs Richard Commey and Carlos Cuadras vs. Roman Gonzalez were the highest level of competition and well worth waiting for. With their wins, Easter and Gonzalez both have very clear futures in the sport. The weekend rematches between Jesus Soto Karass vs. Yoshihiro Kamegai and Daniel jacobs vs. Sergio Mora were decisive and clear the way for both winners, Jacob and Kamegai to move onto bigger and better matches. The side show proved to be even more predictable than odds suggested. It is difficult, if not impossible to become an elite level fighter when you consistently fight c & b level opponents.
The irony is that the free or Premium TV fights were more exciting than the PPVs that were forced upon people by Sky Sports and HBO. The PPV stuff is designed for Superstars and big matches. Ward vs Kovalev and Canelo vs Golovkin are PPV. All that other mess in between is like Monroe vs Rosado is intended for Thursday night PBC.
Where does Easter hail from, Auschwitz? The dude is a walking skeleton. A 5'11" lightweight? Get the hell out of here.
