Not only is this a great fight, but it makes sense for both fighters. They both will make alot of money on this fight, and have alot of options either way afterward. If Whyte wins, the AJ bout will be huge for casuals and credible for fans; he won't need to be mandatory. If Parker wins, he'll be right back in the title mix, and have really established a second home in the UK. Whoever loses would be a great matchup for Bellew or Chisora for another high dollar UK fight to try to rebound. We need more great fights and more fighters willing to take a risk. The more people think about the options great fights bring, in victory or defeat, the more top matches we get. It's no coincidence that Chisora has made the most money in his career of any HW non belt holder. That's a function of him being unafraid to take tough fights.
Fair play to both of these fellas, both ambitious and looking to progress. Winner is in a great position and the loser deserves respect regardless. Good to see the top 10 fighting each other....can’t understand tossers on here whingeing.
I agree with the threadstarter. Matchups between top contenders are very good for the sport of boxing. I'm looking forward to it.
Not a duck when you fight another top fighter that it makes more financial sense to fight. I think his chances against Ortiz would be much worse, but his chances against Pulev slightly better. Hedecided to take the fight that made the most financial sense. I have no problem with that, when it's a comparable level fighter.
Eh. What would the losers other option be? For Whyte, probably the best other option was a fight against Pulev, that he would have comparable chances for, and that he would get paid alot less and be in no better, and probably worse position with a loss. For Parker? Either fight a comparable level fighter for less money and similar risk, or a stay busy fight for vastly less money. No real risk, but he'd just be treading water, not neay as good a title position if he wins either, and no real better title position if he wins the latter but loses the former.
This is a joke right? Ortiz is 97 years old, has a heart condition, coming off a bad KO loss, never held a world title. Parker is young, first man to take Joshua the distance, former world champion and its a PPV fight for far more money. As for Pulev, he is just a let down, refused to fight AJ when he was AJ's mandatory, I believe he didn't want the Whyte fight, I'm convinced he would have pulled out again. If Whyte had took the Ortiz fight and it was said he was offered Parker then many would have absolutely slaughtered Whyte for picking the "old man with a heart condition".
It’s duck when you claim you want a shot at the WBC title then when you get a final eliminator you bail out I mean. They took Pulev to purse bids to pull out because they can’t control the show
Parker will beat Whyte, should knock him out, but Parker can't get a fair decision in the UK....................Whyte did not want to fight Pulev in the first place.....................they lost the purse bid and could not cheat on the scoring, no personal referee. Damn, I hope they don't have that damned idiot referee that Parker/Joshua had in their fight, it ruined the fight.................
https://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/combat-...ws-and-how-they-can-now-help-ko-dillian-whyte Never heard an injury excuse stretch over so many fights as this elbow.... So after talking up how amazing it was prior to Joshua it's now been revealed it was apparently a significant hindrance. Apparently now it is amazing again, for reals.
Not sure if you're intentionally twisting it or not, but when the news broke of the elbow injury they said from the outset that they were working around the healing elbows for half the camp and left the hard work as late as possible to give them the best chance possible to recover - but all was well by the time they reached fight night. Nothing in that article contradicts that.
