So we always talk about great fighters and epic battles....but what about epic fights from unheard ofs or journeymen or tomato cans? The guys who make our sport flow from the early levels and hold the sport and undercards together.

List some favorite fights from fighters most of us have not seen or heard of.

Leland Sugar Man Hardy (west Philadelphia born and raised..) vs Ike Padilla

scheduled as a 6 rounder buried on an Alex Stewart undercard. This fight is short lived, and every punch thrown with bad intentions.

both guys get floored only to rise again. Considered among the greatest club level fights ever and some say it ended with the greatest upper cut in the history of Madison Square Garden.

check it out you won’t be disappointed!

THAT was awesome Phil. Thx to you

I think the best MSG uppercut was Holmes leveling Weaver. Just my opinion.

Letterlough has good ones against Richard Hall and Julio Gonzalez.

Rocky Ganon had some...I think Jose Rivera was the opponent on one.

yeah, I was just quoting the caption from the fight listing. It was good but did not stand out as the best I have seen.

came across this fight reading some ring articles on forgotten closet classics.

    definitely a fun slugfest

I watched the Olivera vs Artemiov fight based on your recommendation about a year or so ago. Decent scrap. Olivera vs Zack Padilla is another one worth watching if you have not already seen it

I remember Olivera-Padilla broke Compubox records at the time for most punches thrown in a fight.

It was excellent, but won The Ring's fight of the year; it was hardly obscure!

I have done it before for this sort of thing, but my pick would be the Southern Area Junior Feather title fight in 1997 between two unbeaten prospects; Patrick Mullings and Spencer Oliver, a very good little fight:

Kermit Cintron vs. David Estrada was probably the second greatest ESPN FNF fight ever, behind Micky Ward vs. Augustus

For some context it was fought during the middle of the deadly Ash Wednesday bushfires in the Aussie summer. It was extremely hot (40C+), windy dry and smoky. Truly hellish conditions and these two fought a grueling war of attrition.

    Well worth a look.

Hey Philly, here's one from last week! On the Warrington undercard. Enjoyed this one. McCorry always shows heart.

was there a documentary that was made on that fight? Or do I have it confused with another?
