Makes you wonder what it would have looked like if Roy Jr had ever been able to get the guy he ‘lost’ to in the Olympic gold medal match into a pro ring after being robbed of gold.
There is a myth that Robinson was terrorised by the death of Doyle he went as far as not keeping a copy of the fight in his house… most maimers and accidental killers in boxing lose “something” see Charles, Eubank and Griffith. Robinson was always dark and avaricious… He was like copper flashy and shiny looking but worthless as a person and seemingly reptilian. Robinsons meanest was probably with Basilio in the rematch, he didn’t respect Basilio in private… or another mean moment in getting publicity for the death of Doyle “Oh I dreamed of this happening… woe is me!”
Great pick! - I read Qawi actually opened his mouth frequently because he had breathing issues? I could be wrong, but that fight he was very blatantly smacking him around smirking for a giggle to p1ss off Micheal.
Joe Louis after Tony Galento tried thumbing him,Joe took him out a minute later Dr sadism himself Dirty Harry Greb with zero pity vs all them guys with no experience.Proper batterings according to the papers
Henry Kissinger once said that 90% of boxing is fighters at their darkest and the remaining 10% is at their second darkest. While this quote is fabricated, who would know more about darkness than Satan?
As far as I’m concerned, Roy Jr in the gold medal match at the Olympics is the worst, most blatant robbery in the history of all boxing, amateur or pro. You can’t even find a 10-second clip from that fight that you could argue the Korean won. You know it’s bad when the guy who ‘lost’ is given the Val Barker Award as outstanding fighter in the Summer Games.
