Great Fighters that retired after bad decision losses

Hagler was hot and cold. He could have bouts where he comes to fight and is active the whole fight, and then other fights where he fights uninspired a little and then complains about the decision. I still say he is an ATG, but the guy he beat Thomas Hearns is greater. It happens. Styles make fights. But Hagler was one of the ATGs. The Leonard fight hurt his legacy a bit.

 

I agree Hearns is greater than Hagler,but Hearns had his chance,fought like an idiot and it cost him.I don't think Hagler was keen on fighting him again,but he had already soundly beaten him and wasn't obligated to fight a man he knocked out again.


Hagler knew his only possible chance of beating Hearns was by jumping on him early and not giving him any opportunity to establish any kind of rhythm.It was a risk,but he had enough confidence in his chin and conditioning to brawl at such a frentic pace and emerge victorious.And he even said prior to the fight that Hearns would get caught up in the event and lose his composure.

Hagler lost by a round against SRL... IMO!

I never saw Greb fight before.... I can't pass judgement....

I don't think Hamed qualifies for any of the criteria in the thread title.

 

Maske won his last fight. And his only pro defeat was a decision loss in his own country, he deserved to lose!

 

Hamed qualifies as a fighter who should have retired after a resoundingly one sided decision loss...not for the criteria of this thread.
