So guys that did great in their respective times but could have done just as good or even better perhaps,in an other era? Most obvious one imo is Ali. Did great in one of the toughest eras possible so he'd do well any other time.
Eras folks tell me are the toughest: John L's era Dempsey's era Ali's era Tyson's era Eras when a promoter had inordinate control over the division: John L's era Dempsey's era Ali's era Tyson's era Just saying I am suspect is all. Likewise, I can not be the only man who finds the Primo, Max, Joe bit of history a bit suspicious. There has only ever been one German HW champion and one Italian HW champion. The highest achieving Spanish champion just happens to achieve his heights at the same time and never again is Spain a major player in HW boxing. They all just happen to come to us during a time when the IBU was being overtaken by fascists and fascism was a hot hip fad in Europe. Just by coincidence. Likewise, just by coincidence it's not just an ally who beats them but a minority group specifically propagandized by them as lesser, also just coincidence. I'm pretty sure John L is the only champion to be crowned based on popularity alone. Not even Figg got that. I guess one could claim Molyneaux but at best his popularity got his claim co-signed where as John's got him crowned. Fitzs and Burns are two of my favorite early fighters. Burns is seriously underrated. That said, have a look at BE history during their reigns. Burns, just by pure coincidence, just happens to be champion during a time when those with poignant views speak to the coming Canadian economic hegemony. It never happened. I'll just flatly state there is no Jack Johnson without 1900s america. Now I'm just rambling through history so I'll cut to the quick, I do not believe in the premise of this post. Ali isn't even Ali without Rude Rudy Moore and Walcott before him.
All the best HW's from the 60s TBH. Liston, Frazier, Ali, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, Lennox, Vitali, Wlad, Usyk.
