For example Muhammad Ali`s physical strength. We all know about his speed, footwork and chin but he had the strength to hold his own with Foreman in the trenches as well as Frazier. Thomas Hearns speed. He was known for his height, power {especially his right hand} and his boxing skills but his pure hand speed was right up there with the greatest Welterweights in history. Joe Frazier`s quickness and precision. He surprised many a fighter. Nothing crude about Joe. During the FOTC he surprised Ali with his speed moving in and his quickness slipping shots including Ali`s jab. Jake LaMotta`s ring savvy and skillset. The ability of the Raging Bull to think on his feet and adjust during fights. Not just a bruiser though he could play it that way LaMotta was able to save his title with a 15th round knockout by playing possum. SRR also said that Jake surprised him with his ring IQ
James TOney's power. See the Ko of prince Charles Williams https://i.imgur.com/KK4lXqu.mp4 Joe Frazier's defence is so underrated it's scary. Same with Lamotta. AAron Pryor's footwork and punch selection. George Foreman's ring cutting is second to none. Even P4P.
Vitali Klitschko ringsmarts. Punch selection from Ricardo Lopez with the punches he threw. What that means is the guy would not throw ineffective punches. he threw a jab when the guy was open for a jab. He'd throw a left uppercut when the opponent left a small window open for that punch. I used to think Napoles was the best at that. Ricardo was even better. Dariusz Michalczewski jab. He threw that thing right down the pipe and stiff. Not telegraphed. What was incredible was the accuracy of it because he often had to close the gap between himself and an opponent. Penetrate a defense in that narrow 1/10 of a second opening. He'd throw it at that perfect millisecond and perfect distance to get full extension on it. It's like the jab would land clean & he'd still have a 2" push after it made initial contact. It'd move guys and it certainly moved the opponents head and even their neck muscles to absorb it. Absolute perfect trajectory and timing. Something very very difficult to do time and time again to opponents.
I watch my first Finito fight the other day and was very impressed. His style is a cross between Vasyl Lomachenko (Foot work, hand positioning) and Alexis Arguello (power, beautiful counter uppercut, used it to stop head movement as well and stance) The guy is amazing to watch.
Julio Cesar Chavez' defense. Because his chin was cast iron, people often suffer under the false impression that he was a face-first brawler type with no defense. In his prime, he often had sublime defensive skills. Especially in the pocket.
