Great fighters who dint fit into any style bracket e.g boxer, slugger, swarmer

    Who were the great fighters who had miscelaneous styles?

    For my own part I see a lot of fighters in the period from 1890-1920 who dont really fit any category partly due to being pioneers.

    I cant find anythig remotley like Bob Fitzsimmons stylisticaly for example.

    Jimmy Wilde. Jersey Joe Walcott has a very interesting way of boxing. Has anyone seen Joichi Wajima box? He looks freaky.

    Your original pick, Fitzsimmons is perhaps the definitive choice, but he also demonstrates the tallness of this particular order - if someone were to call Fitzsimmons a counter puncher, I wouldn't paticularly object.

    jerry quarry...reasons as thus.

    he was a counterpuncher a boxer a puncher and a swarmer at different ends of his career. yet you could never say what type of fighter he was i cant say he was a boxer but i couldnt say a puncher as he was much smarter and slicker than that. boxer-puncher maybe but i dont think he is that muhc of either if you knwo what i mean.

    Except Vitali Klitschko is not a great fighter. Not even close. This title is "great fighters"

    The others mentioned sort of vacillate between different styles, but Eubank was just stylistically...weird, which makes it even harder to predict how he would have faired agaisnt the likes of a prime Jones or Toney. I defy anyone to pigeonhole him.

    (btw Jones himself said the only guy he felt was a real threat to him in his prime was Eubank.)
