Cherrypicks? Mosley was a welterweight cutting weight to fight at 135. It's what young fighters do to score up victories before they balloon back up to their natural weights like DLH, Mosley, Trinidad, and Cotto. It's called padding the resume and is standard practice. Plus, DLH knew Mosley since he was a teenager and was an ex sparring partner. He knew it would be tough. Chavez had only lost once in his carreer before DLH and was not considered washed up. He was considered shot after the 2 DLH losses. He was still top 4 P4P list up until then and if you go to The Ring magazine web site and scan their archive covers you will see Chavez was on the cover of every other issue, alternating wth Tyson, before DLH ruined him. Vargas knocked gave Trinidad a much more thorough fight for the money than the outboxing DLH gave him. And Gatti was not trash when DLH fought him, he was when Mayweather Jr. fought him, but not DLH. Mayorga is different story. Dumbass has an iron chin but let Trinidad hit him with three flush left hooks to the chin. DLH fought a less pscychotic and self-destructive Mayorga. Mayorga's story isn't finished yet. He will still give top boxers a lot of trouble.

Ali ducked out of a Foreman rematch, supposedly.

Benn - OK, I think that's a fair shout, but a "great" fighter?!

Lennox - Took step aside money from Tyson, retired to avoid the Klit rematch and didn't fight Byrd.

Bruno - Yup, but again, "great", this thread is about fighters who have all the marbles but still want to play.

Calzaghe - showed far to little interest in spreading his wings for me to let that pass. No way.

chavez was not a p4p guy when de la hoya beat him. he wasn't shot but he was past his prime and everyone knew randall got the better of it when they fought, despite what blind judges and the great wbc rules said otherwise.

i don't know what you're talking about ring magazine covers for.

chavez hadn't been on the cover of the Ring since 1993 (unless you count a small pic of him getting punched). DLH-Chavez was june 96'.

It depends on your definition of "duck".

Graziano was known as a protected fighter who fought plenty of welterweights. Holmes was stripped for not fighting his mandatory in Page and never unified against the WBA titlists, nor did he rematch guys like Spoon, Weaver, and Norton who all gave him very good and tough fights. Sanchez didn't want to fight Pedroza. Robinson proclaimed himself "too pretty" to fight Burley.
