Erik Morales & Matthew Saad Muhammad were the two best examples of this.

Edwin Rosario was another skilled boxer who often found himself in unnecessary fire-fights. That might be more a case of falling in love with his own power than a passion for grueling brawls though.

Older Marvin Hagler and Manny Pacquaio. Riddick Bowe took so many unnecessary punches given his physical tools and skillset.

    Bowe.

Which is what made Holy/Bowe so great and better than the sum of its parts.

Leonard believe it or not. Duran #1 Kalule, a few of his fights before he became champ. Holyfield of course. W.Gomez when he began to realize he had 1 punch ko power. Hearns against Hagler and Barkley.

I'm not sure if it qualifies as a tendency, but Sugar Ray Robinson and Thomas Hearns could be lured

I don't know if he was actually great, but Cornelius Boza Edwards loved to brawl when he really didn't have to. He gave up his height and reach advantages quiet often.
