I don't think guys built like Hearns can have great chins.. They don't absorb it well because they are stretched out, but they hit hard because they are stretched out and get leverage and he had speed. Just body types. Hearns took a punch better than most guys his frame could.
He was not lean like Hearns and he didn't throw punches like Hearns to be countered. If you look at the great fighters who fought the best like Hearns or Foster, they tended to not absorb punches well. but they threw great leveraged punches.
Yes, in the main you're right. Certain body types have certain similarities more than differences. Just pointing out that there are always going to be the odd exceptions to the rule.
Schooling is the wrong term there. Khan was in control but Canelo was keeping up. That right hand was perfectly set up by the constant counter right hands to the body from Canelo.
Braddock, Baer and Joe were all world class fighters. Galento was one of the biggest punchers of his era and Baer is on Ring Magazines top 100 Punchers list.
Billy Conn? Boxrec has him at 174 for the first fight and 182 for the rematch. They were the same height but Conn was definitely the smaller man. But its not like Conn was a slouch. He was the LHW champ and beat a handful of world champs.
If Andre was 6´5 and 220 pounds? Conn and Louis were the same height, only Louis had 20 pounds on him. Those 20 pounds dont make ones power obsolete. And if a world class fighter clips you, they can put you down. Even if you are weight classes apart. Btw, haven't seen Conn vs Louis. How badly was he hurt?
Height is irrelevant to how hard someone hits. But if you're going to include corresponding weight differences then same question with CW Gassiev or Usyk (215lbs fight night) substituted for Ward. Pretty badly. This content is protected
Height does matter. Trust me, its a lot easier to fight someone who is smaller and shorter. Its a different kind of pressure. Again, Louis had 20 pounds on him. That doesn't mean that Conn's power disappears. Duran might be a bad example because he hit so hard, but that dude ****ed up guys at MW. RJJ hurt John Ruiz, who had a slight height advantage and 20 pounds on him. Briedis KTFO Charr. Weight is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. It can definitely benefit the bigger fighter in numerous ways, but that chin will still be there for the taking. By the weight logic, no one should be able to KO Big Baby Miller.
lol that's an oxymoron. You can't be a great fighter if you have a weak chin. That's like asking which of these fathers who plays no part in their child's life is the greatest father.
Hearns' chin has been questioned quite often for an ATG. It's relative, though. In truth, his chin was just somewhere in that considerable range between glass and granite, and he had an awful lot going for him to make up for any small streak of vulnerability.
