Dempsey Willard would've been stopped at the very first knockdown in my view - Willard was completely gone - today's referee's would never have let that go any further - story is that his jaw had been broken with that vicious left hook that put him over so you'd have to imagine a ref would spot that straight away and call just on those grounds - especially against a murderous puncher like Dempsey

With the three knockdown rule in place most times today, Baer-Carnera.

Bob Pastor was knocked down 6 times in the first round by Turkey Thompson and came back to win a decision.

Willard was actually smiling after the first knockdown against Dempsey, but the smile was wiped right off his face by the following punches. It would have definitely been stopped by the 2nd or finally the 3rd knockdown when Willard was struggling badly to get up.

In my opinion, arguably the greatest comeback of all time, was Fritzie Zivic vs Milt Aron. Aron was knocked down three times and out at the bell to end the 2nd round when he was carried back to his corner. Zivic ran out of stamina which allowed a dazed but game Aron to come back and floor the iron-jawed Zivic in the 7th round, though he was beaten up for the rest of the round by Zivic. The beating continued in the 8th until Aron landed a left hand that flattened Zivic, who was one of the most durable fighters of all time.

Aron made another sensational comeback against Chuck Woods, who floored him 3 times until being KO'd in the 5th.
