Great Fights That You Cant Stand To Watch

I watched duran vs buchanan the otherday... around mid-way through the fight they are still just beating the crap outta each other and getting no where really with it. It highlights one of the reasons I don't like most fights (most not all) below welterweight.

So much speed you can barely see the punches and when they do land they don't appear to do anything to the other guy.

 

hard to watch but that's not a great fight. ****, i would barely call it a fight at all. more like bowling...or darts

 

I've never seen Mancini-Kim and have no desire to see it.

Benn-McClellan and Eubank-Watson 2 are difficult to watch. To a lesser extent, Quiroga-Anifowoshe.

 

Frazier-Quarry I

Gritty performance by Quarry but he really took a pounding after rd 2...

 

The Thrilla in Manila tops my list, too, especially the last two rounds. I always rooted for Joe Frazier and to see him lose like that after such a stellar effort is hard to watch. I only wish that it could have gone the limit, but I'm not out to second-guess Eddie Futch.

Also, Holmes-Shavers II - hate seeing my man Earnie take those shots. Same thing with his Cobb fight.

No one can tell me that the great little guys can't puch, I'm 6ft 1 and 172 Ibs and I would'nt like to take a punch off one of these little mad *******s

I see what your saying and thanks for such an excellent reply.

Personally I enjoyed Gatti-Ward for maybe some of the reasons you don't.

I liked that neither was much more skilled than the other so the fight was stripped down to the bare essence of heart and power. Both men had such indominatable wills and competitive natures that it provided some truly amazing ebbs and flows as each was determined to get the last shot in.

Personally I found it brave,noble and wonderful and a perfect example of why boxing can be bloody beautiful. Everything that a huge fight like Mayweather-Ortiz wasn't.

Hey man, the OP asked which fights we thought. Not only did I give my answer, but I went into detail..

Basically any fight were the fighters can more Chin then pop is not near as fun to watch except for the technical aspects and the size and speed of the much lighter weights tend to make it difficult to see the technical aspects.

 

Yep. I think the Graziano-Zale series served a very similar role in the eyes of the people at the time. Not the most skilled operators in there, but huge hearts and some brass balls.

 

I wish it was Holyfield who said this.

Also any fight (and there's been a few big ones over the past 25 years) where I suspect that the fight was either choreographed between the fighters, or where I suspect one fighter took a dive
