I know I will be alone here ,but Duran/ Leonard 1, didnt particularly engross me with the action ,the principals and the occasion yes ,but the actual fight I found underwhelming.

I feel the same way about that fight. Just way too much holding, fighting on the inside, and fighting on the ropes.

Good display of determination and in fighting by Duran but that fight overall doesn't equal a great fight but just a good fight in terms of action.

    I know.

I paid good money to see 45 rounds of the noble art of scientific boxing and it was over before it had started.

I found Gatti-Ward I pretty underwhelming considering the hype that surrounds the fight. Perhaps this is because I watched Barrera-Morales around the same time and found the skill level on display in Gatti-Ward a bit lacking!

Gatti-Ward I was actually boring for about 60% of the fight. Nothing to do with skill level when terming it as a non-great fight. It only started to heat up from about the 6th round onwards.

That's my favourite fight in colour.

True! I prefer "great" fights to include an element of technique as well though.

Yeah I enjoyed those fights although Mickey Ward fought like a robot. His punches were probably the most predictable. I think he knew two combinations.

Because it wasn't a great fight throughout the entire course of the 10 rounds. It was actually a plain and ordinary fight for the first 5-6 rounds. Gatti outboxing Ward behind the jab, with Ward hardly getting off with punches while coming forward. The 9th round was amazing, and some others were fierce and had many exchanges for long periods. But it comes up short when up against Ali-Frazier III, Pryor-Arguello I, Holyfield-Bowe I, Morales-Barrera I and Castilo-Corrales I. Just not the same for sustained action I'm afraid.

I actually think Arguello-Pryor 1 was slightly overrated. Arguello offered stern resistance, but Pryor had a pretty significant lead, prior to the stopage.

Chacon-Limon IV might be a better choice.

"Ali-Norton 3" from '76 at Yankee Stadium.......... Ali was paid 6.5 million to Norton's 1.1 million dollar take..... This fight was huge for the year / time, but I thought the action fizzled and nothing really big or interesting occurred during them 15 rds...... The fight didn't live up to the hype...... But I recall ESPN Superbouts LOVED to air that replay left and right back in the 1980s....... I taped it back then and I have several copies on various tapes......... Cheers.....

I really only liked "Gatti-Ward 1" on regular HBO.... Parts 2 & 3 were NOWHERE near as entertaining........

Agreed i watched it for the first time and it did not live up to the hype.
But watching it live would have made it a much more memorable and fun fight.

Feel it is overrated with the momentum in only hagler's way.
