You forget hatton was a sensational 140 fighter, and i dont get why people say tszyu was shot at 35 or castillo was shot too.....who was the first guy to put castillo down? hatton, that should be noted.....did people see tszyu in the mitchell fight, NO WAY tszyu was shot when he fought ricky
on what basis can you call Hatton a sensational fighter? Admitedly Tszyu was not totally done, but he was over the hill and not not looked close to fighting again...he had announced his retirememt after the Mitchell rematch and came out 1 more time for the money. It's pretty obvoius what happened there and the way he got cheated in the Hatton fight. Vince Phillips beat a prime Tszyu much more convincingly...are we to call him a 'sensational fighter'? anyone who suggests Castillo wasn't shot must have rocks in their head or be a Wicky hugger. That was clear as water. Like I say if you really put your mind to it you can pick holes in anyone's record...but the fact is it's especially easy to pick Hatton's limb from limb, as it was build on a fraud, and some of us called it all along.
ricky just wasnt the best for his era, when he stepped up, and got beat both times, theres no shame in that, he had OWNED the 140 division for 4 years till manny beat him, thats long for his era.....sure castillo wasnt the same fighter, but corrales never put down castillo like hatton did, still ricky deserves more credit for that win, then what he gets.
owned the division? He beat a couple of handpicked beltholders and avoided others, it was also a weak division in that time. Too ****ing right he wasn't the best of his era..jesus .....he is basically the same level as a David Diaz, but with a large, cunningly manipulated fanbase.
It amazes me when people claim to have got it right about Hattons career along when he gets beat, aged 30, 5 or 6 years after they originally made their point. I'm not keen on Degale and think he'll stuggle to make a top class pro but I won't claim I was right all along about him if he gets flattened in a unification with Erislandy Lara in 2014 after making half a dozen succesfull defences of his world title!!!!
thats why he OWNED it...hatton was a class above anybody else at 140, untill he took on the best in the world in manny pacquiao, david diaz is a paper champ, got a gift against morales who was shot.....david diaz even gets sparked out by a urango, or suffers an bad UD loss to malginaggi.
Hatton was a good fighter,i always liked watching him.He was a good champ and the win over tszyu was a great victory.Im pissed off with people running that win down.Hatton beat a lot of very good fighters and only lost to 2 guys who are destined to be remembered as greats.Nice vid top fighter.
David Diaz did a hell of a lot better against Pacman than Wicky did, and he didn't have a clear size advantage either like Wicky did. So how come Diaz can be called a paper champ and Hatton a sensational fighter at 140? Doesn't add up. Hatton didn't own it, he did plenty of ducking at 140. Gaz...again you are ignoring the nature of the defeats. When did Pac or PBF last do someone like that? The suspicion that some of us had beforehand, coupled with the nature of the defeats, brought it all out into the open and confirmed that Hatton was an opportunist all along who rightly would''ve never been considered near the top 20 p4p, if not for hype and a fat fanbase.
The loses don't take away from the wins/ achievements and certainly don't vindicate all the irrational hate over the last 6 years. Zoo, Urango, JLC, Collazo, Malinaggi are up there as a set of wins with any that British boxers (Lewis aside) have put together over the last 30 years or so.
styles make fights, creating different results....diaz is a paper champ he beat morales for a vacant wbc title, and morales was shot, you imagine what ricky would do to morales at 140......and not to mention diaz got a gift decision over morales.....and the only fighter you can think of that ricky ducked was maybe witter.
