Hmm..why does oscar think its ridiculous to put Canelo against the one weight class bigger Chaves/Martinez but perfectly reasonable to put Josesito against the two weight class bigger Canelo?
Well thats a biased opinion if I ever saw one. Chavez is basically a light heavyweight, so why would someone who hasn't fought above 154 step up to that this early in his career. I honestly feel there's a good chance that the Chavez-Canelo fight could ruin his career at this stage. Look at the names he has at 154 that he can make himself a name out of. Lara - regarded as an exceptional fighter by real boxing fans, Cotto - possibly the 3rd biggest draw in boxing, Mayweather - P4P no.1 and the biggest draw in boxing today. It just doesn't make sense at this point in time. Also Lopez has already fought at 154 so he's not facing someone from wo weight classes below, Canelo himself started off as a light welterweight.
Thats complete balderdash. Josesito Lopez has never fought at 154. He started pro at featherweight and had been fighting super lightweight for the last three years until his last fight with Ortiz at welter. Now GBP has him immediately moving up again to fight their new light middleweight golden boy. On the other hand, Oscar insists that it would be totally unreasonable to move Canelo up just one weight class even though Canelo has been fighting at his present light middleweight for years.
My bad. Thought the Ortiz fight was at light middleweight for sone reason :huh. But still you should be able to see how staying at light middleweight is a much more realistic and beneficial for himself and GB promotions. This isn't trying to please boxing fans on ESB, it's all about making money and you clearly can't see that.
Why are people Canelo vs Lopez a mismatch? Did you not listen to Oscar? Lopez has that eye of the tiger.
