I'm happy he stopped it! The round before i was telling everybody " The man has a family and a Daughter, they need to stop this" and im happy weeks did Here's my thing, if Anuglo would've won a few round or at least losing like 5 rounds to 4 then Weeks wouldnt have stopped it but he showed nothing. He tried but Canelo has serious combinations and Angulo can do anything about that. He didnt win 1 round and there was no neeed for him to eat more punches. To do what?? Listen I get it. Angulo has alot of heart and didnt want to go out like that. We've seen that in many fights. Angulo didnt need to get punched for 8 more minutes. Thanks Weeks!! ref's like him will keep boxers alive for years to come! if u think he shouldnt have done it, what are u gonna say if he would've died later this week? Not saying he would've but theres already been plenty of boxers that died in this sport and 1 in a coma still right now. Need more Ref's like Week!!! P.s. Canelo is a beast!!!
It seemed too early, but the argument is that Angulo is too tough for his own good, like Margarito, like Magomed. Canelo had really put everything he had on that uppercut and Angulo was still standing and was likely to take more shots like that. Looking at it that way I can see why Tony Weeks stepped in.
of course it was a good stoppage.. virgil hunter in the round before was saying he was thinking of stopping it...
Round 8 was crazy where Canelo taunts him to attack more Does make you wonder if it's fixed or maybe Angulo just doesn't punch as hard as we thought.
The time of the stoppage was very awkward. Even more so than Groves-Froch. Having said that, it was only a matter of time. It would look like a supremely terrible stoppage if one was to watch only the round of the stoppage though. All in all it was a questionable stoppage, but not all that bad. Just a weird time to pull the plug.
Great stoppage-enough is enough. If Angulo waited for his ******* trainer to stop it he would be in the intensive care unit by now. WTF is with these brave trainers these days.:huh
yea, new york state athletic commision are a disgrace. still makes my blood boil to see how he was treated. and the buck doesnt stop there. his trainer john david jackson and the referee as well as k2 promotions. great stoppage by tony weeks. him and bayless are the best refs.
I'll admit, when I was actually watching the fight I thought it was a bad stoppage, because Angulo was still in good enough shape to go on. But after considering all the circumstances, the comprehensive ass whooping Angulo was getting, and the fact that he couldn't land on Canelo, I changed my opinion. Angulo had no chance of winning and he didn't need to take any more flush shots to the head
