Quartey beat Oscar and Forrest **** the judges why exactly are 80 year old men judging fights at dam near midnight anyway :huh
Interesting addition. Makes this one a deeper and intriguing division. You have the current gatekeepers (PBF, Margarito, Clottey, Baldomir), prospects turning into top-tiers (Cotto, Williams, Cintron), decent players (Collazo, Quintana) and now the old guards coming back (Shane, Ike). Wait a minute. We have to include the Superman (Zab) in the mix as well.:yep Overall, this is as deep as you can get.
Quartey, for all his reputation, doesn't FIGHT when he needs to to win. People complain about his loss to Forrest, but watch that **** again; Quartey didn't do anymore than Forrest did. Even if you think he deserved to win, you have to admit he looked like ****. He won't do much now at 147 or any other weight. He might beat some top guys and I'd love to see him fight someone like Margarito who would make him fight, but he won't be the true champ again.
it only means they are the veterans out there in the division, not exactly someone whom upstarts would play with to legitimize their ascendancy in Welterweight.
Okay, I guess I just never heard of the term gatekeeper being defined as a veteran in the division. Usually when I have heard someone referred to as a gatekeeper, it's a guy like Charles Shufford at heavy or Robert Daniels at middle.
