Recently it was Cunningham-Adamek (which they're replaying right now!!!), and this time it was Diaconu-Pascal. THANK YOU, VERSUS and YOUR MATCHMAKERS! Early in the fight, I thought Pascal would fade and get caught. And he did -- but then he kept coming back and definitely got the job done. A couple of things about Pascal: 1. This content is protected . This might not be great for career longevity, but it's exciting to watch and JP has a real warrior's heart. 2. This content is protected . He lost little if any speed, was not tired, and the extra weight almost certainly helped his punch resistance. Would LOVE to see him vs Dawson. 3. This content is protected . Stuck with the gameplan. Just as Pascal's loss to Froch did little to diminish JP, this loss does little to diminish Diaconu. He hit Pascal with shots that would have dropped many LHW's -- and have -- but Pascal just willed himself to stay up and fire back hard, ringing shots. As I said on another thread, this solidifies to me why Dawson does not want to fight Diaconu: You get NO breaks (which Dawson loves to take), you can't hardly hurt the guy and he can and will hurt you. Diaconu does not have great speed, for sure. He could not quite get the timining here against the former 168 pounder, and when he did, Pascal took the shots and answered them. Terrific fight. GREAT night for the sport. This content is protected to Pascal and to both men for a great fight. And to Versus for showing it on free cable. And to cap it off, Versus is replaying Cunningham-Adamek. YES!!!! :happy:happy:happy
I have to say, I'm really lovin' the format Vs has set up here. Entertaining undercards and damned good title fights between fighters who DESERVE to be seen, but don't have superstar recognition (and subsequently, price tags). I don't mind if it only happens every couple of months or so, but damn they need to keep that up. :happy:yep
What was so intriging about this fight was all 5 outcomes were possible at the start. It was an even money fight, even according to the bookmakers. That is what boxing needs, that brings excitement, not a blow out. And it lived up to the billing, it was a great fight.
Rock, TFFP -- Amen. Great posts! :goodgood Maybe Versus can take over the old Tuesday Night Fights type of position that USA Network used to have. We sure need more of that kind of thing and they are delivering right now!
I'm so pumped because my brother missed the fight and now they're replaying the whole show and he gets to watch it, too.! Woo hah! Nights like this are so rewarding for boxing fans. I hope the Wlad-Ruslan fight does good, too. It's going to be great, with 60,000+ fans. Should be another good setup! thumbsup
