I waited for the mania to die down before posting. Here was my take immediately post fight:

A truly majestic performance, and this from an admitted Pac hater. I still think he lost twice to Marquez…

But it doesn’t matter. Marquez would not have been able to match that performance, I can finally say with no hesitation. Marquez didn’t belong in that ring, and he wouldn’t have performed like that. Pac deserves his fame and fortune, and he put on an incredible display. I predicted Cotto was severely deteriorated and would get pummeled, but I did not predict he would look good and STILL get pummeled!

Cotto too tough for his own good. It seems he took the criticism to heart, as did his corner, and they let him get battered just to save face. Very irresponsible decision making, he should’ve been pulled out several rounds earlier. Cotto should know he has nothing to prove to anyone, and care about his health and family more than the fan community. He proved he was tough, but for what? A healthy dose of brain damage?

I have no idea what would happen in Pac-Mayweather. It’s a very tough fight to pick. This would have been blasphemy earlier, but now I lean Pacquiao by decision, based on volume punching. That is a MEGA SUPER DUPER UBER fight that MUST happen. The demand for it is insane. A true Ali-Frazier or Leonard-Hearns caliber fight.

Here’s hoping Marquez never takes the trilogy with Pac. He would be battered and the ignorant fans would say “see, that proves he’s better”. Marquez is old, bloated, shopworn. He was better @ 126 and 130lbs, and doesn’t belong in a ring with Pac at 140. It would be a complete humiliation. Let Marquez go out in dignity by cutting Hatton to shreds.

Wow I’m still in shock over that performance… How about Manny with the iron chin? I knew his chin was good, but it was granite in there. Cotto must have had Margarito nightmares, landing his best punches and not budging his attacking opponent. It looked like Pac would show him mercy and carry him to the bell, but Roach would have none of it. My pocket book is very thankful, but my heart goes out to Cotto.

Im impressed with Foreman’s performance too, but I can’t help being annoyed at Arum’s Jewness. He put on a dreadful undercard and sucked every penny he could out of the JCC Jr trainwreck. The man is completely shameless. He’s very fortunate Foreman saved it for him.

Then again, remember Pac Oscar undercard? Oscar’s the type of guy who would bring me in as a sparring partner if it would save him 50 cents, so it’s safe to say both of boxing’s top promoters are only in it for the short-term money.

Personally I thought Cotto would have done a better job than that. He was snapping Pacman's head back with the jab and was countering, but he just made the mistake of trading shots with a very fast fighter with great awkward footwork. You just don't do that with Pacquiao in the ring.

I think Mayweather would have beaten Cotto in that similar fashion. It'll be by UD because Floyd doesn't look for the knockout like Pacquiao does. When Cotto gets his face busted up, he's looking to knock you out in desperation (like how Clottley exposed him). That's why Manny capitalized on Cotto's mistakes like Mayweather would if they fought instead. Nevertheless, great performance by Pacquiao.

cotto at 145 didn't have the pop in his punches that he had when he faced granite chinners like shane mosley and margarito who he was able to back up for a while with his jabs and body punches
