Vargas beating Campas. He had talent and amatuer experience but in the Pros with only 14 fights was looked at as not ready for the veteran with a 72-2 record with 68 KOS. BOY DID vargas prove the naysayers wrong.

Definitely a green fighter, definitely a great success; debatably great performance.

Can you really say Pacquiao was green though ? i mean yeah he wasn't at his absolute peak but he'd had 41 fights and was already a 2 weight division champion with stand out wins over Sasakul, Julio.

For me green is a lack of world championship experience or a lack of world class opponents.

One thing I love is how Larry didn't run the whole time, he got clocked hard a couple of times. His movement was exquisite, plus just enough power to make Earnie respect him.

The ultimate bull matador scenario, one of the finest boxing performances ever imo...he was about to stop him at the very end.

I was just about to retract my initial post based on what you just mentioned actually. And I agree that being green is about having inexperience and not perfected their style yet. In a sense Pacquiao was definitely much more raw and had not fine tuned his skills but as you said he was already a 2 weight world champ with good wins when he fought Barrera.

I think a better example would be Pernell Whitaker beating Roger Mayweather. That was Whitaker's 12th fight, also his first 12 round fight, fought a former champ who was a dangerous puncher, and was in a fight that forced him to bite down to overcome adversity after getting dropped.

Duran beating a Marcel at age 18 is very impressive, especially when you consider just how good of a boxer Marcel was. Marcel would later end up beating Alfredo Marcano, Antonio Gomez, Kuniaki Shibata (declared a draw but it most consider that a robbery), and Alexis Arguello.
