Mayweather's numbers are all legit. He's grossed over $450 million (ppv/gate) domestically in his last five fights alone. Over 7 million buys.
Yeah... most of Mayweather fights. I'm a big pac fan, and I will admit his fights have been a bit boring as of late as well. Doesn't finish the job these days like he used to, and if he held the gas pedal down (instead of letting up on certain fighters like the Margarito fight) he could have most of them out. Honestly though, rarely can these fights live up to expectation. It's the ones you don't expect, or between 2 bums with nothing to lose that usually are amazing.
Lol people trying to be underhand slick, justifying Mayweather's "no 50/50" excuse. . . " If there was ever a fight where the cut should be 50/50 down the middle, it's Pac/May.
Why? Because you think Pacquiao "deserves" 50%, or are you dumb enough to believe that this fight would have already been signed if Floyd had agreed to take less than he knows he's worth?
I definitely think Pacquiao deserves 50%. . . Whether or not the fight would have been signed if Floyd agreed to 50/50, I simply don't know. . . Probably not, as there would then be another hurdle from either camp to jump over. . . I just don't know if Pac would have held solid on his word that he would agree to the venue, drug testing, and fight date if Mayweather agreed to 50/50. . . But, what I KNOW for sure, is that Floyd refused 50/50, thus effectively ending negotiations this go' round. Trying to justify Mayweather is right in refusing 50/50, then you are just a nuthugger, and a fan of boxers first, not boxing.
PPV numbers mean **** to me personally. If I like the fight ill buy it, if not ill watch it down the kebab shop. havent bought many fights to be fair and it seems most of the best fights are either free to air on subscription channels (well over here anyway). I don't get all the arguing about PPV numbers either. You got people bragging that Floyd does more that Manny, which he should do considering he is American and the other is from the other side of the world. Who cares, just get the fight made or just both concede the fight won't be made and stop boring the **** out of most people with the negotiations crap.
Those are your emotions talking. Floyd is the bigger draw, and even when Pacquiao manages to outsell Floyd, he still makes far less, so from a business standpoint 50% makes no sense.
No, that's your emotions speaking. . . It doesn't matter "how much they make", it matters how much they bring to the table for the fight. . . They are both responsible for about the same amount of asses in seats, and eyeballs on television sets. Mayweather can't do numbers like he could with Pac, and pac can't do numbers like he coudl with Mayweather. . .
No, those are facts. Mayweather can (and does) make far more without "Pac" than "Pac" can without him, and while Floyd is investing in and promoting his own fights, making more money than any other fighter by far, Manny is getting royally ****ed by both his promoter and his advisor and losing money faster than he can make it. If anybody needs this fight from a financial standpoint, Pacquiao does, and I'm sure he'll accept whatever deal Floyd decides to throw his way once his situation becomes desperate enough. **** what you think he "deserves".
I know this has turned into a Pac/May thread, but remember the Lewis vs. Tyson PPV audience? It was huge and the definition of a mismatch. Big money for bad fights happened long before those two.
