What’s name of that guy that beat up Guerrero and was gonna fight Broner?man am I dying to see that guy again
Pirog wasn't some prospect; he was a titlist ranked in the top 5. At the time, he was underrated. With time he has become overrated. The Great Ismayll Silakh was supposed to be revolutionary. He was everybody's Chosen One. Lists of future P4P top 10's, future LHW kingpins, etc. all featured Silakh high up on the list. Literally, almost everyone's #1. Felix Verdejo comes to mind. Plenty of time and then some to right the ship. Buuuuuut...
Yep. He and Broner each got one within a couple weeks of each other (perhaps it was a couple months and the announcements just coincided, not sure about that)... I also think there was something else to Figueroa's reasoning, an injury maybe? Could be wrong there too, haha.
Yup liked him a lot back then, it was one of the reason I was always hyped about a Bute fight, since he was always on the undercard. Last I heard he was working in construction or security to pay for medecine, and he became fat. I think he came out saying Interbox pressured him to stay at a weight he was no longer able to make. I don't know how reliable that info is, since he disappeared from public eye. At the very least he should've been approached by sports channel in Quebec to be a commentator.
The best of the Walsh brothers - Michael - had ten wins all by big KO but seemingly stopped fighting. Also Joe Pigford, KO artist (and awful defence) but has dropped off the face of the planet. Here's another one Ahmet Pattison was last seen making mince meat out of Ryan Ashton.
