Not great fighters but neither was DeWitt.

 

Froch is a great choice. Often shocking technique, slow, wild, awkward, worst right uppercut ever.

 

Froch always looks awful technically to me, but effective neverthless.

 

He must be the favourite modern fighter of all old-timers.

Anytime someone says: meh, Langford, Gans, Ketchel etc look outdated.

All you have to do is just say: take a look at Frochy, noob!!!

Steve Collins. Wide arm hits mostly, esp from Eubank II on.

Though he threw sharpish combinations against McPeek, Thornton and Kalambay.

 

Timothy Bradley is the first name that springs to mind that hasn't been mentioned yet. Maybe that's because he hasn't proven to be of the great/very good variety, but I'd still throw him in since his contemporaries Froch, Montiel and Darchinyan have been included. I think Bradley's technique is often very poor, just sloppy clubbing punching where proximity, volume, and bad intentions make up for a dire lack of precision, technique, and power. He is effective but technically bad, much like Joe Calzaghe.

 

I was going to say that guy, don't think there is any film about him at all. i think I did see him in a film once though working as a barman/bartender.

Popkins, Bradley is a great choice. You ever seen Tommy Hearns give him a look of disdain upon feeling one of Timmy's jabs when holding the pads?

Bradley's punch technique is fairly poor, reminds me of David Haye, he'll time a looping overhand right well, then every punch that follows (particularly the left hook) is a wide, ragged shot.

Negative though he was, Devon shows Bradley falling short, looping wildly, throwing cuffing blows. Amateurish stuff. I really like Bradley though.

 

Gene Fullmer - king of crude. He actually had no style. His jab was like a swipe, but if you got into a clinch with him you had better hold tight to both arms because if one was free he would be hitting you on the top of the head, the kidneys, etc. For all his faults though, what a fighter!
