Here's an interesting read on the barely remembered great white hope Al Palzer. It's an indication of how desperate the public were to find someone to topple Jack Johnson that someone as inept and inexperienced as Palzer could be seen as a viable contender. It's also a tale of a fighters exploitation by an uncaring and really amoral manager who was only too happy to throw the hapless Palzer to the wolves.
