You definitely get a sense of dread watching the whole fight. Wolfe patiently waits for an opening and misses with the first few right hands, but it was a matter of time given the way Ward would drop her hands, back straight up and hold her chin up. She couldn't have gotten hit harder if she'd tried. Glad I didn't see that live.
No luck so far, but here's what Ann has to say about it: AVC: You put Ward in the hospital that night. Have you spoken to her since? AW: I went to the hospital to see her. What I do is try to end your career when I fight you, so I was hoping that her boxing career was over. But I didn't want her to be hurt.
I want the Wolfe v. Mahfood trilogy to be a great one, that sticks in my mind, but there's not enough (quality) footage and I can't work myself up into pretending that it was one for the ages.
Anne Wolf was probably the best female fighter of all time. A prime Holly Holme was really good too, but Holly was very different from Wolf. Anne Wolf was a stone cold killer. Holme was a pure boxer/slickster.
Was just going too post something along these lines.. No matter how sexist I sound, it just doesn't seem right watching girls fight
there was a thread not to long ago about punches that no boxer could stand up to or would get KO by . . . i think Anne could have KO'ed almost anyone with that shot! LOL
