Mayweather has more raw skills, barely; but Hopkins will be remembered as the greater figher.

B Hop has the better resume and the longevity has to play a part, I'll go with Hopkins.

It depends what era you interpret it as...I interpeted it as 2001-now...

    Mayweather:

    - 15-0
    -TKO undefeated Diego Corrales
    -Beat Jose Luis Castillo 2x
    -Beat Zab Judah
    -Beat Oscar De La Hoya
    -TKO'd undefeated Ricky Hatton

    Hopkins:

    - 11-3
    -TKO undefeated Felix Trinidad
-KO Oscar De La Hoya (keep in mind hopkins is naturally 30 or more lbs heavier than floyd)
-Close losses to taylor 2x and calzaghe
    -Beat Winky Wright
    -Beat Antonio Tarver

Adding Kelly Pavlik to Hopkins list makes him the best fighter since '01 after tonight.

Hopkins has never truly been soundly beat (in the era you defined) and any of those loses could have gone his way. Also Floyd's "win" over JLC 1 is questionable.
